When our school arrived at Cedar Springs Camp,
the first thing we did was meet in Founders Hall, the big hall were a lot of
events took place at camp. In Founders Hall, we met one of the counselors who
taught us to play a game called ZONK. ZONK was a trivia game. When your team
got a question right, the player got to choose a piece from the ZONK board.
That piece could have a lot of points on it, or it could say ZONK! If you got a
ZONK, you would loose all of your points for that round. After playing a lot of
that fun game, we met up with our cabin groups, came up with a name, and headed
to our cabins to unpack. The cabins had bunks for everyone with groups around 8
to 12 kids and 2 adults. We spent some time in our cabin groups getting to know
each other, then we headed out to our first fun activity to start off our camp
experience.

Soleil had a fun and amazing time at
Camp Cedar Springs and hopes that they could return for another fun time at
Camp Cedar Springs. The lines for meals were really long but the meals were
really good and it was worth the wait. Like I said, Soleil and I hope to come
back to camp. And if you ever go to Camp Cedar Springs, hope that you have a
great time.

Many learning groups did different classes, so
the classes that my group did was Student Forestry, Rock Climbing, and Archery.
Student Forestry was when we used
tools back then that was used for trees, so we sawed a log, chopped off pieces
of wood, carried a heavy log and scraped off bark to make shingles.
Rock Climbing was when we climbed a
wall with plastic nooks, and we all tried to climb to the top. When we wanted
to get down, we tapped the wall two times and because the the line that held
was retractable, we were able to get down safely.

After staying at Camp Cedar Springs for
the first night most people were a little tired but still were willing to have
fun. For the second half of the day we know that one group went climbing for
their final class. Everyone had a lot of fun at their last full day at camp!
Evening Activities by Mira and Neha
For an evening activity on the first day, we did Nature’s Game Show. It is a bit like Jeopardy, where 5 contestants from each team goes up to answer questions, and if they get it right then they get a certain amount of points depending on the hardness of the question. It was a fun game, and everyone was very excited about it. Photo by Ezra and Aaron J |
In the evenings, at Camp Cedar Springs, we did
many activities. We played games as an entire intermediate Madrona group. We
played Wolf Pack, we performed skits, Campfire, and Nature’s Game Show. All of
these activities were very fun! Most of us wish we could do it again soon!

l On the last day of camp we had breakfast.
After breakfast we did something called quest ( it’s pretty much a scavenger
hunt) where your group had a piece of paper which had clues that led you to
other spots in camp. We had a lot of fun that day and in the end no one wanted
to leave camp.
