Soleil has been looking at stream table experiments  in science. We have been studying how erosion takes effect on the land. Things that we have learned are that erosion takes chunks of land and erodes the land forming valleys, canyons, rivers, and lakes. When there is erosion bad things can happen like mudslides or floods. We have been watching videos to learn why these things are happening in our stream tables and in the real world. In conclusion science helps us study erosion and the land.

On December 9th, Soleil went on a field trip to Brightwater. We studied water and erosion in hills, wetlands, and streams. We had model stream tables just like the ones we have here in class, and we studied some problems that can be caused by erosion and water. We did experiments with our model stream tables on how to prevent flooding and mudslides by studying streams and wetlands to figure out how to prevent too much erosion and too much dirty water from getting in the way of our everyday lives or interfering with sewage that could cause floods or mudslides. We got little journals to write down observations and draw small maps of different places. We went to a stream, a hill, and a wetland to record our observations.

The giving tree is a project where you help a family in need by giving them presents like crayons, clothes, and other things to keep them healthy and warm.  This project has everyone take initiative to do what needs to be done.  The families are very grateful about what we are doing for them.

Bali Service Project by Joey and Devin

Photos chosen by Giselle and Abby

Every year, Madrona  does a service project. This is helping people every year, and sometimes even animals. This year, please be aware that we are fixing a school’s roof in Bali. The children in Bali like to do a traditional dance and, they sent a video of some children doing the dance in appreciation of what we are going to do. We are trying to raise six thousand but we only have three thousand so keep donating to help the kids in Bali.

What made the post interesting was how people talked about how excited they were. That helps people know how exciting the cocoa house was. The post was very specific and detailed so I don't have any questions. Everybody was excited about cocoa house and had a great time. The thing I think we should add is how there were snowflakes around the room and the other decorations.

Cocoa House by Lucy and Saki

This was my first Cocoa House and I was excited about everything. My favorite part of Cocoa House was all the poems and eating with my friends. I was also surprised that lots of people actually read poems. I would give Cocoa House five stars. :)

I like cocoa house because it is good to show of your poetry. Also you can make up poems to test your creativity.

I like how they described what erosion was and how it happens. I also like how they took a picture of the stream table instead of the class. but I don't think that they should have the straw (at least I think its a straw) in the picture because it looks weird.

I liked the interview on cocoa house because they asked interesting questions and for fourth graders they came up with a different question for it.
